Iftar at Al Aqsa
Al Aqsa in Jerusalem holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims. It was the first Qibla and it is from where our beloved Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) ascended to heaven.
Its significance is magnified during the blessed month of Ramadan when hundreds of thousands of worshippers gather to break their day’s fast with cooked iftar meals in the Al Aqsa masjid compound and in the shadow of the Dome of the Rock.
On the 27th night, 300,000 worshippers take part in these collective iftars. At least 20,000 people attend each night during the last 10 days of Ramadan and those figures can swell to 100,000 during the odd nights in that period.
