3 Good Deeds for Ramadan 2023

In Islam, it is common knowledge that the Holy month of Ramadan holds immeasurable rewards for those who abide by it. It is an honour to be able to partake in such an auspicious month because who knows if we will be blessed enough to see another Ramadan in our lifetime? So, with Ramadan 2022 fast approaching, now is as good a time as any to start earning as much reward as we possibly can, to help us along our journey with ease.

There are many good deeds we can do in any given month at any given time. However, notably, there are certain acts which carry higher reward during this blessed month - three of which are detailed below.

Attaining Taqwa

One of the most crucial acts during Ramadan is to attain closeness to our Lord, for it is this very month in which our destiny for the following year is written. Not only this, but the month of Ramadan holds such an honourable place in the Islamic calendar as it was this month in which the very first verses of the Holy Qur’an were bestowed upon our Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) as guidance for all mankind. This revelation occurred during the last ten nights of Ramadan and is known as Laylat-ul-Qadr (The Night of Power).

Helping Others

Any follower will know that we were given wealth by Allah SWT to enable us to share it with those less fortunate than us. It is our duty to help those in need wherever and whenever we can as these are the deeds which will outweigh our sins on the Day of Judgement. Donating towards a good cause, a world emergency or a campaign that resonates with you during this month will certainly go a very long way. Volunteering Your Time

During Ramadan, some of us often find ourselves with more time on our hands than we initially expected; who knew so much of our day was based around nourishment? But with this additional time, whether we automatically acquire it or choose to lessen our daily schedules to find it, it’s important to utilise it in the most beneficial way - for yourself and others. Living in a world where time is inevitably seen as money, it is important to realise that money isn’t fundamental to giving and there are other ways of doing something for others that can be equally as rewarding. In this day and age, time is so valuable and there are very few people who have enough of it to share. Volunteer for a charity, spend some time with the elderly or simply help out at your local community centre - there are countless small things we can do to make a big difference.

Giving to charity is a way of refreshing and purifying one’s own wealth and Allah SWT has promised that giving to charity shall not decrease our wealth but in fact, increase it. It’s another step to ensuring we adopt kindness as a way of life in order to inspire the biggest change we wish to see in the world.

Ramadan 2022 is a golden opportunity to multiply our rewards and blessings so let’s make the most of it once again.
