5 Ways You Can Help Fight Poverty in 2018
Each and every year, so many of us aspire to have a key influence in making a fundamental difference to the world and the many millions facing poverty every day – but more often than not, day-to-day life takes over and our good intentions can be somewhat forgotten.
Whichever way we look at it, there will always be someone in need of our help at any given point in our lives, not just at the beginning of a new year. Being in a position to be able to help those in need is simply a privilege we should not be so quick to overlook.
Fighting poverty and helping others is at the very core of what we do here at Islamic Help, so for those of you who wish to join in the common goal of making a real difference this year, here are five great campaigns to get involved in.
Sponsor an Orphan
To put it simply, sponsoring an orphan is not just what it says on the tin - there is far more to it than meets the eye. Many don’t realise that sponsoring an orphan is a key element to steering the future in the right direction. Today’s children are our tomorrow and helping to provide them with the necessary education, key skills and sufficient opportunities will give them the chance to pioneer our future in the best possible way.
Emergency Campaigns
Let’s face it, with the ongoing crises around the world each and every day, there will always be someone in need of a helping hand. From unpredictable world disasters to ongoing conflict, the struggle to survive is all too real for the majority of the victims involved.
Need is Greatest
Following on from conflict and world disaster, with so many campaigns and projects running at any given time it can often be difficult to decipher who is struggling the most and who needs the greatest amount of support. This is why it is a good idea to donate towards the ‘Need is Greatest’ campaign so those that are in critical need of assistance are prioritised accordingly.
Sustainability Projects
The beauty in contributing towards a sustainability project is that you are not just feeding or contributing towards someone’s today but possibly their entire future – along with that of their community. Helping to provide a means of sustainable living helps to give civilians the opportunity to be able to cultivate and pioneer their own future, acquiring the relevant skills needed to be able to achieve this.
Volunteer
It’s not just the act of financial contribution that accomplishes the difference we all wish to see, it is also those who volunteer their time to enable us to achieve this mutual goal. To be able to help those in need, it is not just vital to raise the necessary funding but also to ensure sufficient manpower is in force to be able to construct and physically engage in evolving projects and campaigns.
So whether you decide to sponsor an orphan, contribute towards an emergency campaign or volunteer your time, ensure that you do your bit this 2018 and help us to progress ever closer to that eminent, mutual goal.
