Well, look no further! Islamic Help brings you the Snowdon Climb! The aim of this tall order is to raise funds for the orphans in Tanzania.

Islamic Help started the Eco Village project in Tanzania in early 2012. The Village is located near the town of Kisemvule, which is just outside the capital, Dar es Salaam. It is set in 30 acres of stunning green landscape and is home to over 160 orphans. Today, the Village boasts an Eco Mosque and upon completion, will consist of a sports ground, a community centre, library and permaculture farm. It will also include 16 children’s homes in total.

The aim of the Eco Village is in the name itself. The emphasis of the Village is to introduce sustainable living and the primary reliance on green energy. The Eco Village aims to provide a secure family setting to facilitate the children’s psychological and physical growth. This is also to ensure they receive the best possible education whilst providing them with the skills and support needed to lead a productive life as an adult.

Worth it, right. So come and join us in shedding some of those extra Ramadan pounds.

Come along on Saturday 25th July to climb the highest mountain in Wales to raise funds for orphans in Tanzania.

The aim is for each participant to raise at least £200.

But before you do, here are some interesting facts about Mount Snowdon…

• Reaching 1085m (3560ft), it is the highest mountain in Wales
• The name “Snowdon” comes from the fact that snow can often be seen on parts of the mountain
• It is the busiest mountain in Britain in terms of the number of climbers
• “Snowdon Lily” – a rare wildflower, grows on Mount Snowdon
• It is possible to see England, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man from Mount Snowdon
• The mountain has a railway line running through it, which derailed on the day of its opening, back in 1896. There have been no accidents since
• There is a lot of history and mythology relating to the mountain, including the killing of an ogre
