The Public Convert No 1 Tour
Islamic Help is hosting a unique national comedy tour exploring how the journey of a Muslim convert encompasses inspiration, trials, reflection, discovery and - humour.
American stand-up comedian and writer Preacher Moss will take centre stage in the six-city Public Convert No 1 tour which also features comedian Aatif Nawaz, social media star Ali Official and spoken word artist Tommy ‘A-Man’ Evans.
The tour, in partnership with likeMEDIA.tv, will feature a unique perspective on the Muslim convert story. It starts in Glasgow on March 23 and takes in Sheffield, Oldham, Birmingham, London and Luton.
Preacher Moss, who converted to Islam at the age of 20 more than 25 years ago, was one of the founders of the Allah Made Me Funny comedy tour which played in 30 US cities and internationally, winning acclaim from critics and audiences.
The Public Convert No 1 tour will see him explore his journey of faith and the triumphs and tribulations faced along the way. It will also feature a humorous insight into how to tackle random questions friends and family ask about your new faith, to learning about the different aspects of it and the interrogation sessions you’re held to by parents when looking for a spouse!
Born Bryant Moss in Washington DC to African American parents, Clifford Moss and Mary Moss, Preacher Moss began practising comedy at the age of seven, when he earned the nickname ‘Preacher’ for his imitations of the pastor at his family’s church.
Brought up as a Christian and sent to a local military academy for his schooling, he started doing sketch comedy when he was 17 and by his early 20s began to make his way to comedy clubs. In May 2004, Preacher and other Muslim comedians Azhar Usman and Azeem Muhammad (later replaced by Mohammed Amer in 2006) launched the Allah Made Me Funny comedy tour which has toured the USA, Canada, Europe, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East.
