Eid-ul-Adha 2019

Eid-ul-Adha 2019

Eid-ul-Adha is the second of the two annual festivals in Islam and is commonly known as the bigger of the two Eids. It occurs after the annual pilgrimage of Hajj which is one of the obligatory Five Pillars of Islam and is known as the festival of sacrifice. Eid-ul-Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhul Hijjah, which is the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

The significance behind this Eid is the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) was prepared to make of his son, Hazrat Ismail (A.S), for the sake of Allah (SWT).

To commemorate this sacrifice, the act of Qurbani (sacrificing an animal) is carried out by Muslims across the world on Eid-ul-Adha. The Qurbani meat must then be divided into three equal portions and distributed between the individual, their neighbours and family, and those in need.

Many of us here in the UK are fortunate enough to have meat readily available to us throughout the year so choose to donate our Qurbani through a Muslim charity such as Islamic Help. This ensures that those who do not have this privilege are able to receive our Qurbani donations in time for Eid. These donations ensure that those in less fortunate circumstances also have the opportunity to celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid as comfortably as the rest of us.

The giving of Qurbani also serves and acts as a reminder of the importance of equality in Islam. Ensure your Qurbani contribution is distributed amongst those who need it most this Eid-ul-Adha 2019* by donating with Islamic Help. Alternatively, feel free to give our team a call on 0121 446 5682 for more information.

*Eid-ul-Adha 2019 is expected to fall on or around 12th August this year. For accurate times, please check with your local Mosque or Imam closer to the time.
